Look Back Series: Bollywood, 2004


Shah Rukh Khan was the star of the year with 2 super hit films under his belt, Veer Zaara and Main Hoon Na.
Hrithik roshan made his mark at number two with Lakshya, and Emraan Hashmi with Murder alongside Maillika Sherawat, who created controversies with her bold looks, skimpy attires and kissing scenes with the actor.
The top grossing films of 2004, apart from all those listed above were Hulchul, the very well received Masti, one of Bollywood’s best made comedies, Dhoom, an action packed bicker film and Khakhee, starring Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar and for the first time, Tusshar Kapoor in a serious role.
In terms of events, Nirupa Roy and B.R. Chopra won the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award and Raveena Tandon married the Film Distributoor and Business tycoon Anil Thadani.
The year ended with the loss of one of Bollywood’s favorite Villains, Mogambo, Amrish Puri, who passed away at the age of 72.
