Look Back Series: Bollywood, 2003


The first major Sci-Fi, major block buster film ‘Koi Mil Gaya’ not only was a super hit according to audiences but was the highest grossing film in 2003 at the Box office.
Following Koi Mil Gaya, starring Hrithik Roshan and Directed by Rakesh Roshan was Karan Johar’s, Kal Ho Na Ho. At Number 3 was The Hero: Love Story of a Spy.
2003, is regarded as Preity Zinta’s peak as she was the main lead in all the top 3 highest grossing films of the year.
Other films that were a major success in Bollywood were Baghban and Munnabhai: MBBS. Munnabhai made Sanjay Dutt the most loved actor of Bollywood and Arshad Warsi bagged the Filmfare Award for the Best Supporting actor for the film.
Other hits this year were Chalthe Chalthe, Andaaz, Main Prem Ki Deewani Hoon, LOC Kargil, Fun2sshh, Hungama and Jaal.
2 new Bollywood stars made their debuts this year with the super hit, teenage drama film ‘Ishq Vishk.’ Both, Shahid Kapoor and Amrita Rao are well established Bollywood actors today.
